The Fourth Industrial Revolution in a new 'Knowledge Society'. Education of the Digital Natives.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution is the backbone of the digital revolution we are part of today. The workforce is going through a unique transformation without the support of the current education system. Professions – like machine learning specialist and cloud computing expert – which never even existed before are reshaping the expectations towards learning. The gap between the supply and demand of human resources calls for the modernization of the public education system in the United States. The members of the digital native generation are long being born in the digital reality but the access to be connected is not even close enough to actually gain those digital literacy skills which are needed today. The education system is not blind but does not have the tools, willingness or knowledge to upskill their structure. However, because of the fact that the responsibility of children's education started to transfer back to the individual in the last twenty years - as the kids and parents themselves – the conversation should be started at home. This is a new apprenticeship era, but the parents are not even aware of it. The world of gadgets and smart screens formed a new knowledge society, which increasingly lives in the Cloud, the world of connectedness. As the rapid digitalization cannot be stopped or reversed, the society must adopt to it for its best interest. The revolution of learning is the only way of preparing children to succeed.
