Light as environmental pollution

Wraz z rozwojem infrastruktury zarówno mieszkalnej jak i użytkowej, a także rozwojem techniki iluminacji obiektów historycznych, do otoczenia i atmosfery dostają się coraz większe ilości światła. Ilość jego antropogenicznych źródeł cały czas wzrasta, co pozostawia swoje odzwierciedlenie w stanie jasności nocnego nieba widocznego z powierzchni ziemi. Skutki nieprzemyślanego oświetlenia można znaleźć nie tylko w zachowaniu zwierząt, ale również i ludzi. Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie światła pochodzenia antropogenicznego jako zanieczyszczenia, a także zaprezentowanie dotychczasowego stanu wiedzy na temat metod pomiaru, źródeł oraz wpływu tego zjawiska na ludzi i zwierzęta.

Together with growth of residental and utility infrastructure, and also with development of historic facilities illumination technique, more and more quantity of light gets into environment and atmosphere. Amount of its anthropogenic sources still increases, what leaves its reflections in state of night sky brightness visible from the surface of the earth. Effects of misguided lighting can be found not only in animal, but also human behaviour. The aim of this work is to show anthropogenic origin light as a pollution and also to present the current state of knowledge about methods of measurment, sources and impact on people and animals of that phenomenon.
