Taxi services in Krakow. Industry and competition analysis.

The thesis contains a compendium of knowledge about the taxi industry and its competitive environment. The aim is to show how companies related to the transport of people in Krakow operate.The methodological part classifies transport and presents selected tools and analyzes used in company strategies. Then the thesis describes in detail the taxi corporations operating in Krakow. Numerous charts and statistical data determine the size of the industry and the ways in which it functions. In the empirical part of the thesis, through the interview and the observation, the correctness of the hypothesis was examined, on the basis of which the reasons for the prevailing conflict between the taxi service market and the "gray zone" were searched. The analysis assessed the impact of companies that do not have a taxi license for taxi transport services in Krakow. The obtained results allowed to draw final conclusions, thanks to which correlations between taxi passengers' transport and the "gray zone" were established, lead to explanation of the causes, genesis and conditions of the conflict.

Abstrakt Praca zawiera kompendium wiedzy o branży taksówkarskiej i jej otoczeniu konkurencyjnym. Celem jest pokazanie w jaki sposób funkcjonują przedsiębiorstwa związane z przewozem osób w Krakowie. Część metodologiczna klasyfikuje transport oraz przedstawia wybrane narzędzia i analizy stosowane w strategiach firm. Następnie szczegółowo opisuje korporacje taksówkarskie działające w Krakowie. Liczne wykresy i dane statystyczne określają rozmiary branży oraz sposoby jej funkcjonowania. W części empirycznej pracy, poprzez wywiad i obserwację zbadano prawidłowość postawionej hipotezy, na podstawie której poszukiwano przyczyn panującego konfliktu pomiędzy rynkiem usług taksówkarskich a „szarą strefą”. Przeprowadzona analiza oceniła wpływ firm, które nie posiadają licencji taksówkarskiej na usługi przewozu osób taksówką w Krakowie. Uzyskane wyniki pozwoliły na wyciągnięcie końcowych wniosków, dzięki którym ustalono korelacje pomiędzy przewozem osób taksówką a „szarą strefą”, prowadzą do wyjaśnienia przyczyn, genezy oraz warunków powstania konfliktu.
