W trzech rozdziałach autorka opisuje życiorys Siddharthy Gautamy, podstawowe założenia buddyzmu, historię buddyzmu w Korei, stosunek pism buddyjskich do problematyki kobiecej, role kobiet według tejże religii oraz historię wyznawczyń buddyzmu na omawianym obszarze, wyróżniając istotne dla tego buddyzmu postaci, takie jak chińska cesarzowa Gi koreańskiego pochodzenia czy mniszka Kim Iryeop. Rozważania dotyczące kobiet w koreańskim buddyzmie dotyczą zarówno kobiet świeckich, jak i mniszek w różnych epokach istnienia koreańskiej państwowości. This thesis focuses on the history of female Buddhists living on the Korean Peninsula from the Three Kingdoms era until modern times. Author describes in three chapters the life of Siddhartha Gautama, basic tenets of Buddhism, history of Buddhism in Korea, attitudes towards women in early Buddhists texts, roles of women according to this religion and history of female Buddhist followers in Korea, singling out figures important for Korean buddhism, such as Korean-born Chinese Empress Gi and nun Kim Iryeop. Considerations regarding women in Korean Buddhism concern both nuns and secular women in various eras of the Korean state. The thesis may be treated as an introduction to female Buddhists and their activity on the Korean Peninsula.
