The influence of cultural capital on the dimension of the processes of participation of the local community of Nowa Huta in the context of the activities of the Cultural Center C. K. Norwid in Krakow

Nowa Huta - a city that was founded on the basis of different villages from each other, for years of its existence, it grew and developed despite many accompanying perturbations. The local community of the 18th district of Kraków has become the subject of research, scientific dissertations and books. The cultural capital of Nowa Huta shaped over the past decades is an inseparable element of the surrounding cultural institutions located there. Understanding management processes that are designed to fuel the participation of the local community through its heritage - can prove to be an extremely helpful tool in the design of future events and initiatives.The research focused on the most prominent units of Nowa Huta's society. Applications obtained through in-depth research with employees of the Cultural Center C. K. Norwid - will allow to understand and answer the following questions: Can cultural capital be or is a catalyst for changes taking place in the local community of Nowa Huta? How does the Cultural Center use the potential of cultural capital? Does he benefit from the involvement of residents and is aware of its potential?The work has been divided into three parts. The first - is a theoretical introduction and reflections on concepts that relate to the theme of work: participation, community, structuring and cultural capital. The second part was devoted to a short story about the formation of the Nowa Huta community, describing and presenting the activities of the Cultural Center and presenting interviews. The third part contains the results of surveys and excerpts from talks with representatives of the Nowa Huta community.

Nowa Huta – miasto, które powstało na gruncie różniących się od siebie wiosek, przez lata swojego istnienia, wzrastało i rozwijało się pomimo wielu towarzyszących mu perturbacji. Społeczność lokalna XVIII dzielnicy Krakowa stała się tematem badań, naukowych rozpraw oraz książek. Kapitał kulturowy Nowej Huty ukształtowany na przestrzeni minionych dekad – stanowi nieodłączny element otoczenia znajdujących się tam instytucji kultury. Zrozumienie procesów zarządzania, które mają na celu podsycanie partycypacji lokalnej społeczności za pomocą jej dziedzictwa – może okazać się niezwykle pomocnym narzędziem w projektowaniu przyszłych wydarzeń oraz inicjatyw.Badania skupiły się na najbardziej wyróżniających się jednostkach społeczeństwa Nowej Huty. Wnioski uzyskane za pomocą pogłębionych badań z pracownikami Ośrodka Kultury im. C. K. Norwida – pozwolą na zrozumienie i odpowiedzenie na pytania: Czy kapitał kulturowy może być lub jest katalizatorem zmian zachodzących w lokalnej społeczności Nowej Huty? W jaki sposób Ośrodek Kultury wykorzystuje potencjał kapitału kulturowego? Czy korzysta z zaangażowania mieszkańców oraz jest świadomy jego potencjału?Praca została podzielona na trzy części. Pierwsza – jest teoretycznym wstępem oraz rozważaniami nad pojęciami, które wiążą się z tematem pracy: partycypacją, społecznością, strukturacją oraz kapitałem kulturowym. Druga część została poświęcona krótkiej opowieści o kształtowaniu się społeczności Nowej Huty, opisaniu i przedstawieniu działalności Ośrodka Kultury oraz zaprezentowaniu przeprowadzonych wywiadów. Trzecia część natomiast zawiera wyniki ankiet oraz fragmenty rozmów z przedstawicielami nowohuckiej społeczności.
