Women from Young Poland period in Zofia Nałkowska’s “Rówieśnice” and “Narcyza”

SummaryThe aim of the following bachelor thesis was to depict the figure of women on the example of two chosen novels written by Zofia Nałkowska – “Rówieśnice” and “Narcyza”. The work is divided into two chapters: “Silhouettes of Women in Rówieśnice” and “Images of Women in Narcyza”. The first chapter addressed the title characters - Małgorzata Olszanka and Hanna Ułuska. It also presents the characteristics of the supporting heroines of “Rówieśnice”. The next chapter deals with the personality of the titular Narcyza. Then, the supporting heroines of the novel are described. The thesis shows connections between the analysed characters and the author's biography, and the Young Poland period as well. The issue of women's emancipation in the context of Nałkowska's activity, as well as her reflections on this subject, are also raised.

StreszczenieCelem niniejszej pracy licencjackiej było zobrazowanie postaci kobiet na przykładzie dwóch młodopolskich powieści Zofii Nałkowskiej ‒ „Rówieśnice” i „Narcyza”. Praca została podzielona na dwa rozdziały: „Sylwetki kobiet w Rówieśnicach” oraz „Obrazy kobiet w Narcyzie”. Pierwszy z nich traktował o tytułowych postaciach ‒ Małgorzacie Olszance i Hannie Ułuskiej. Przedstawiał także charakterystykę drugoplanowych bohaterek Rówieśnic. Natomiast kolejny rozdział obrazował osobowość tytułowej Narcyzy. Następnie zostały opisane bohaterki drugoplanowe tejże powieści. Praca przypomina powiązania analizowanych postaci z biografią autorki oraz z epoką Młodej Polski. Poruszono także kwestię emancypacji kobiet w kontekście działalności Nałkowskiej i jej rozważań na ten temat.
