Być rozmową. Istota relacji z perspektywy hermeneutyki i kognitywizmu

The thesis presents the role of the phenomenon of relation within the framework of hermeneutics, cognitive science and humanities. Dynamic technological and intellectual changes in the twentieth century led to today's crisis both in the cognitive science and humanities as well as in philosophy. The search for a permanent foundation of thought and morality became very problematic and complicated in the first two decades of the 21st century, which aroused increased interest in the problem of relativism and interpretation. The relativity and temporality of all knowledge is nowadays one of the most important intellectual problems – this is why recognizing the significant role of relations and interpretations and the necessity of holistic recognition of phenomena such as mind and consciousness are important challenges faced not only by scientists and humanists but also by theologians, and even politicians. Focusing on relations is currently one of the few solutions that avoids dogmatism and allows for the perception of problematic phenomena in an open and interdisciplinary way. In the first chapter of the thesis, several ways of understanding of the title term are presented. The next part focuses on presenting the development of the hermeneutic trend and postmodernism in 20th and 21st century philosophy with particular emphasis on the relational aspect. It also includes remarks on the relationship between hermeneutics and the philosophy of dialogue. The third chapter presents the rise of cognitive science. Today neuroscience face some serious difficulties in reductionist-like explanation of mind and consciousness problems. The naturalistic approach is revised in this chapter, according to which all individual mental phenomena can be reduced to the level of neuronal brain activity. This part is also focused on the role of the relation in cognitive concepts and shows that the combination of naturalism and hermeneutics is not only possible, but also creative. The fourth part contains reflections on the current difficult condition of humanities and presents the relational character of this field. The paper ends with a summary in which the author emphasizes the basic role of the relations for existence in each of the fields discussed, and also presents a possible perspective of cooperation of the discussed areas within the common, relational and focused on the interpretation horizon of the humanities.

Praca przedstawia rolę fenomenu relacji w ramach hermeneutyki, kognitywizmu oraz łączącego ich współcześnie wspólnego horyzontu – humanistyki. Dynamiczne przemiany technologiczne oraz intelektualne w dwudziestym wieku doprowadziły do dzisiejszego kryzysu zarówno w ramach nauk kognitywnych, jak i humanistycznych oraz w filozofii. Poszukiwanie trwałego fundamentu myślowego i moralnego stało się w pierwszych dwóch dekadach XXI wieku bardzo problematyczne i skomplikowane, co wzbudziło wzmożone zainteresowanie problemem relatywizmu i interpretacji. Względność i czasowość wszelkiej wiedzy staje się współcześnie jednym z ważniejszych problemów intelektualnych, z tego powodu uznanie znaczącej roli relacji i interpretacji oraz konieczność holistycznego ujmowania zjawisk takich jak umysł, świadomość to ważne wyzwania, przed którymi stają nie tylko kognitywiści oraz humaniści, lecz także teologowie, a nawet politycy. Skupienie na relacji to obecnie jedno z niewielu rozwiązań, które stara się unikać dogmatyzmu i pozwala na ujmowanie problematycznych zjawisk w sposób otwarty oraz interdyscyplinarny. W pierwszym rozdziale pracy zostaje zaprezentowanych kilka sposobów rozumienia tytułowego pojęcia. Kolejna część skupia się na przedstawieniu rozwoju nurtu hermeneutycznego w filozofii XX i XXI wieku ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem aspektu relacyjnego w hermeneutyce. Pojawia się w nim również kwestia związków między opisywanym nurtem a filozofią dialogu. Trzeci rozdział prezentuje powstanie i rozkwit – będących pod dużym wpływem nauk ścisłych – nauk kognitywnych aż do ich dzisiejszego stanu, w którym napotykają poważne trudności w redukcjonistycznym wyjaśnieniu problemów umysłu oraz świadomości. Zrewidowane zostaje w tym rozdziale podejście naturalistyczne, według którego wszelkie indywidualne stany mentalne da się sprowadzić do poziomu neuronalnego działania mózgu, jak również przedstawione zostają te kognitywne koncepcje, które pokazują, że połączenie naturalizmu i hermeneutyki jest nie tylko możliwe, lecz także konieczne i produktywne. Dużą część tego rozdziału stanowi namysł nad tym, jaką rolę odgrywa relacja w naukach kognitywnych. Na czwartą część opracowania składają się refleksje dotyczące obecnego trudnego stanu humanistyki oraz skupiające się na relacyjnym charakterze tej dyscypliny. Pracę kończy podsumowanie, w którym autor podkreśla podstawową rolę relacji dla egzystencji w każdej z omawianych dziedzin. Zaprezentowana w nim zostaje także możliwa perspektywa współdziałania omawianych stanowisk w ramach wspólnego, relacyjnego, interpretacyjnego horyzontu humanistyki.
