L’analyse du "Lai de Narcisse" par rapport aux „Métamorphoses” d’Ovide

The purpose of this thesis was to analyze a 12th century poem entitled "Lai de Narcisse", in relation to Ovid's "Metamorphoses". In the first chapter, main similarities and differences between the two texts have been analyzed: structure and plot, narrative, background and overall message of the narrator. The two remaining chapters are devoted to a more in-depth characterization of the two protagonists in the context of their attitude towards love impossible to fulfill. The analysis allowed to show that the medieval author, although inspired by Ovid's work, created his own version of the story of Narcissus, thus adjusting it to the mentality of his epoch.

Mon mémoire de licence avait pour but d’analyser le récit médiéval intitulé "Lai de Narcisse "(XIIe s.), par rapport aux "Métamorphoses" d'Ovide. Dans le premier chapitre, ont été analysées les principales similitudes et différences entre les deux œuvres : la structure et l'intrigue du récit, la narration, le contexte de l'action et le message didactique. Les deux autres chapitres sont consacrés à une interprétation approfondie des personnages principaux, dans le contexte de leur attitude envers l'amour impossible à réaliser. Cette analyse a permis de constater que l'auteur médiéval, tout en se référant dans son texte à l'œuvre d'Ovide, a créé sa propre version de l'histoire de Narcisse, l'inscrivant ainsi dans la mentalité de son époque.

Celem niniejszej pracy była analiza XII-wiecznego utworu pt. "Lai de Narcisse" na tle "Metamorfoz" Owidiusza. W pierwszym rozdziale zostały zanalizowane główne podobieństwa i różnice w obu utworach: struktura i fabuła utworu, narracja, tło akcji oraz przesłanie dzieła. Dwa pozostałe rozdziały zostały poświęcone bardziej dogłębnej charakterystyce głównych postaci w kontekście ich postawy wobec niemożliwej do spełnienia miłości. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwoliła ukazać, że średniowieczny autor, mimo że nawiązywał w swoim tekście do działa Owidiusza, stworzył własną wersję opowieści o Narcyzie, wpisując ją tym samym w mentalność swojej epoki.
