The master’s thesis deals with a topic of the protection of the right of personal portrayal of significant public figures. The main objective of this paper is to confirm the thesis claiming that despite the increasing amount ofinfringements of the right of personal portrayal and growing interest in public and popular people’s private life, the Polish legislator provides remedies and the redress for these figures. It is a highly popular issue because of the constant growth of illegal infringements of the right of personal portrayal, such as using somebody’s image without the proper permission or to a wider extent. The main objective of the paper is also to show a commercialization of personal rights and infringements that are consequences of this phenomenon.The thesis contains analysis based on theoretical studies and numerous examples which can help shed light on the infringements of the right of personal portrayal of significant public figures. The conclusions checks thehypothesis that the legislator ensures different remedies and the redress, which can be considered as the most effective one. This master’s thesis aims to comprehensively analyze the topic of the redress for the infringement of the right of personal portrayal of significant public figures.

Praca magisterska porusza temat ochrony wizerunku ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wizerunku osób powszechnie znanych, a jej celem jest potwierdzenie tezy, że mimo wzrostu liczby przypadków naruszeń prawa do wizerunku i rosnącego zainteresowania życiem prywatnym osób powszechnie znanych, ustawodawca zapewnił środki ochrony praw tych osób, pośród których zadośćuczynienie najpełniej oddaje jego istotę. Problem jest niezwykle aktualny, ponieważ coraz częściej dochodzi do wykorzystywania wizerunku osób powszechnie znanych bez ich zgody lub w zakresie szerszym niż ta zgoda przewiduje. Zaobserwować można również obecnie zjawisko komercjalizacji dóbr osobistych i naruszeń na tym polu.Praca zawiera zarówno rozważania teoretyczne, jak i liczne przykłady obrazujące naruszenie prawa do ochrony wizerunku. Ich analiza pozwoliła na wskazanie środków ochrony przewidzianych przez polskiego ustawodawcę i zbadanie form zadośćuczynienia przyznawanego osobom powszechnie znanym, wobec których dokonano naruszenia.
