The image of Bucharest in Romanian and Polish literature

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie obrazów Bukaresztu w literaturze polskiej i rumuńskiej. Pracę rozpoczyna część teoretyczna, w której przybliżony zostaje temat miasta w literaturze, badania nad motywami urbanistycznymi, oraz ogólna charakterystyka stolicy Rumunii. Następnych pięć rozdziałów poświęcone jest konkretnym przykładom z literatury u takich autorów, jak: Filip Florian, Ioana Pârvulescu, Mircea Eliade, Małgorzata Rejmer i Błażej Brzostek. Dzięki nim możliwe będzie porównanie doświadczenia Bukaresztu i pokazanie, dlaczego akurat stolica Rumunii, a nie inne europejskie miasto, stało się dla wyżej wymienionych autorów idealną przestrzenią dla akcji ich utworów.

The aim of this thesis is to present the image of Bucharest in Polish and Romanian literature. The essay begins with theoretical part, where I am introducing the image of the city literature, research on urban motives and and the general characteristics of the capital of Romania. The next five chapters describe specific examples from the literature in books by such authors as: Filip Florian, Ioana Pârvulescu, Mircea Eliade, Małgorzata Rejmer and Błażej Brzostek. The article compares experience of Bucharest and shows why the capital of Romania, and not another European city, is an ideal space for the actions of their books.
