Les toponymes dans les traductions française et polonaise du premier volume de la saga Le Trône de fer de George R.R. Martin

Praca dotyczy tłumaczenia toponimów i innych nazw miejsc w przekładzie francuskim i polskim Gry o tron, pierwszego tomu sagi Pieśń lodu i ognia autorstwa George'a R. R. Martina. W pierwszej części pochylamy się nad tematem nazw własnych i różnych podejść do ich tłumaczenia w literaturze, prezentujemy gatunek fantasy i naszą powieść. Część praktyczna to analiza nazw własnych z korpusu i ich klasyfikacja zgodnie z zastosowanymi technikami i metodami tłumaczenia. Obserwujemy, w jaki sposób różne strategie tłumaczenia nazw własnych wpływają na fikcyjny świat przedstawiony i jego spójność, stając w obronie tłumaczenia nazw własnych w tekstach fikcji literackiej.

The thesis scrutinises the translation of toponyms and other place names in the French and Polish translations of A Game of thrones, the first volume of the saga A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin. The first part addresses the subject of proper names and different approaches to their translation in the context of literature, presents the fantasy genre and the novel in question. The practical part proposes the analysis of the proper names of the corpus and classifies them according to the techniques and methods of translation used. We observe how different strategies concerning proper names affect the fictional universe and its cohesion in order to defend the translation of proper names in fiction.

Le mémoire porte sur la traduction des toponymes et d’autres noms de lieux dans les traductions française et polonaise du premier volume de la saga Le Trône de fer de George R. R. Martin. La première partie aborde le sujet des noms propres et les approches différentes de leur traduction dans le cadre de la littérature, présente le genre fantasy et le roman en question. La partie pratique propose l’analyse des noms propres du corpus et les classe en fonction des techniques et des procédés de traduction utilisés. Nous observons comment différentes stratégies concernant les noms propres touchent l'univers fictif et sa cohésion dans le but de défendre la traduction des noms propres dans les textes de fiction.
