Eginald Schlattner’s prose – Das Klavier im Nebel

Celem niniejszej pracy jest zarysowanie możliwej interpretacji prozy Eginalda Schlattnera z perspektywy wydarzeń historycznych będących punktem wyjścia dla jego pisarstwa. Ponadto ma na celu zidentyfikowanie oraz zanalizowanie elementów autobiograficznych obecnych w powieści oraz poruszenie problematyki subiektywizmu narracji historycznych, kluczowej dla typu prozy realizowanej przez Schlattnera. Pierwsza część pracy oferuje krótką prezentację kontekstu historycznego powieści niezbędnego do zrozumienia wydarzeń historycznych tworzących tło narracji. W drugiej części poruszony zostaje problem fikcji historycznej (w oparciu o teorię Haydena White’a), w odniesieniu do wybranych prozatorów rumuńskich w celu nakreślenia kontekstu estetyczno-literackiego dla twórczości Schlattnera. Ostatnia część pracy jest poświęcona analizie powieści Fortepian we mgle, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem elementów autobiograficznych.

Lucrarea de față își propune schițarea unei posibile lecturi a prozei lui Eginald Schlattner din perspectiva evenimentelor istorice care au constituit punctul de plecare în demersul literar al autorului. Totodată, ea are drept scop identificarea și analiza elementelor autobiografice din roman și abordarea problematicii subiectivismului narațiunilor istorice, esențială pentru tipul de proză realizată de Schlattner. Prima parte a acestei lucrări oferă o scurtă prezentare a contextului istoric al romanului, acesta fiind necesar pentru înțelegerea evenimentelor care creează fundalul narațiunii. În a doua parte, este abordată problematica ficțiunii istorice (plecând de la teoria lui Hayden White), cu referire la unii autori români de proză istorică, pentru a contura și contextul estetico-literar în care apar scrierile lui Eginald Schlattner. Ultima parte a lucrării este consacrată analizei romanului Clavir în ceață, cu sublinierea unor elemente autobiografice.

This paper proposes an overview of a possible reading of Eginald Schlattner’s prose from the perspective of historical events which constituted the starting point for the author’s literary endeavor. Moreover, it aims at identifying and analyzing the autobiographical elements present in the novel and at addressing the problem of historical narration’s subjectivity, intrinsic to the type of prose that Schlattner represents. The first part of the paper offers a short presentation of the novel’s historical context necessary for understanding the events that create the background to the narrative. The second chapter addresses the problem of historical fiction (based on Hayden White’s theory), with reference to some Romanian authors of historical prose, in order to outline the cultural and literary context. The last part is dedicated to the analysis of the novel Das Klavier im Nebel, highlighting the autobiographical elements.
