The role of the community in the life of the members of the Men of Saint Joseph Association

Celem niniejszej pracy jest refleksja nad „Rolą wspólnoty w życiu członków Stowarzyszenia Mężczyźni Świętego Józefa”. Poprzez analizę męskich doświadczeń autor stara się odpowiedzieć na pytanie jaką rolę, w dobie społeczeństwa ponowoczesnego, pełni przynależność do wspólnoty religijnej.Mężczyźni Świętego Józefa to charyzmatyczne stowarzyszenie zrzeszające świeckich mężczyzn. Jego członkowie formują się w małych grupach, wyjeżdżają na rekolekcje, wędrują po górach oraz organizują otwarte wydarzenia kulturalne czy modlitewne jak np.: „Oblężenie Jasnej Góry.” Ich celem jest tworzenie przestrzeni duchowego rozwoju mężczyzny oraz uświadamianie do czego jest on powołany przez Boga jako mąż i ojciec. Na spotkaniach wspólnoty dominuje tematyka militarno-bojowa jako metafora duchowej walki, którą musi stoczyć każdy mężczyzna.Badania prowadzone były metodą pogłębionych wywiadów indywidualnych oraz uwzględniały obserwacje uczestniczące. Wzięli w nich udział członkowie wspólnoty Mężczyźni Świętego Józefa skupieni przy parafii św. Józefa w Krakowie – Podgórzu.Udział we wspólnocie Mężczyzn Świętego Józefa daje jej członkom kontakt z osobami podobnie przeżywającymi wiarę oraz szansę na poprawę relacji z Bogiem i rodziną. Świadectwo innych mężczyzn pomaga członkom wspólnoty łączyć życie religijne z pracą, życiem społecznym i rodzinnym. W społeczeństwie, w którym zachodzi stopniowy proces sekularyzacji, ruch świeckich katolików daje wskazówki jak radzić sobie z problemami moralnymi i własnymi słabościami.

The aim of this work is to reflect on "The role of community in the life of the members of the Men of Saint Joseph Association". Through the analysis of male experiences, the author tries to answer the question of what role does belonging to a religious community play in the era of postmodern society.Men of Saint Joseph is a charismatic association of secular men. Its members form small groups, go on retreats, hike in the mountains and organize open cultural events or prayers such as: the Holy Father's Day: "The Siege of Jasna Góra. Their aim is to create a space for the spiritual development of a man and to make him aware of what he is called to do by God as a husband and father. At community meetings, military and combat themes dominate as a metaphor for the spiritual struggle that must be fought by every man.The research was conducted using the method of in-depth individual interviews and included participating observations. They were attended by members of the Men of Saint Joseph community gathered at the parish of St. Joseph in Krakow - Podgórze.Participation in the community of St. Joseph's Men gives its members contact with people similarly experiencing faith and a chance to improve their relationship with God and family. The testimony of other men helps members of the community to combine religious life with work, social life and family life. In a society in which the secularization process is gradually taking place, the movement of lay Catholics gives guidance on how to deal with moral problems and one's own weaknesses.
