The image of the indifference in A man asleep by Georges Perec (1967)

Dans mon mémoire de licence j’entreprends l’analyse de l’image de l'indifférence dans le roman „Un homme qui dort” de Georges Perec (1967). Un aspect important des œuvres de Perec sont les références autobiographiques qui influencent, de manière significative, la lecture et la compréhension de sa création. C'est par l’approche de cette question que je commence mon travail en relevant des points communs entre la vie de l'auteur et celle du héros principal du roman. Dans mon analyse, je me concentre sur la perception du monde par le protagoniste et sur son attitude face à la réalité qui l’entoure. J'observe comment le sentiment d'indifférence et d'aliénation se manifeste dans le comportement du protagoniste et comment ils influencent sa vie. Un autre élément important qui fait l'objet de mon analyse sont les figures de style et les procédés littéraires atypiques (tels que l’utilisation de la narration à la seconde personne du singulier) avec lesquels l'auteur a réussi à présenter un monde onirique, marqué par la solitude et l’indifférence.

This bachelor’s thesis is an analysis of the image of indifference in the novel A Man asleep by Georges Perec (1967). An important aspect of Perec's works are the autobiographical references which significantly influence the reading and comprehension of his creation. It is with this thread that I begin my work and that I indicate the common points between the life of the author and that of the novel's main character. In my analysis, I focus on the protagonist's perception of the world, his attitude towards the reality that surrounds him. I observe how the feelings of indifference and alienation manifest themselves in the protagonist's behaviour and how they influence his life.The stylistic figures and atypical literary forms (such as the second-person narration) are also relevant elements in my analysis, by the means of which the author has managed to depict an oneiric and full of solitude world.

Tematem mojej pracy licencjackiej jest obraz obojętności w powieści „Człowiek, który śpi” Georges’a Pereca (1967). Ważnym aspektem w dziełach Pereca są nawiązania autobiograficzne, które znacznie wpływają na odczytanie i zrozumienie jego twórczości. Analizą tego wątku rozpoczynam moją pracę i wskazuję punkty wspólne z życia autora jak i głównego bohatera powieści. W mojej analizie skupiam się na postrzeganiu świata przez protagonistę, jego stosunku do otaczającej go rzeczywistości. Obserwuję, jak poczucie obojętności i wyobcowania przejawia się w zachowaniu bohatera oraz jak wpływa na jego życie. Kolejnym istotnym elementem, który jest przedmiotem mojej analizy, są środki językowe i zabiegi narracyjne (jak np. użycie narracji drugoosobowej), za pomocą których autorowi udało oddać się świat oniryczny, naznaczony poczuciem samotności i obojętności.
