Does every freedom liberate? Comparative analysis of the concept of freedom by the main characters of the novel by Bolesław Prus Pharaoh and Fyodor Dostoyevsky Crime and Punishment

Praca zawiera analizę porównawczą pojmowania wolności przez głównych bohaterów powieści Bolesława Prusa i Fiodora Dostojewskiego. Pierwszą część stanowi rekonstrukcja sposobów myślenia Ramzesa XIII i Rodiona Raskolnikowa o własnej wolności. Natomiast w drugiej części prześledzone zostały przyczyny upadku ich koncepcji. Ostatnia część pracy jest analizą porównawczą osnutą wokół wątków buntu romantycznego, dojrzewania i wolności.

The dissertation contains a comparative analysis of the concept of freedom by the main characters of the novel by Bolesław Prus and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. The first part is a reconstruction of the ways of thinking of Ramses XIII and Rodion Raskolnikov about their own freedom. In the second part, however, the reasons for the fall of their concept were investigated. The last part of the work discusses a comparative analysis centered around the themes of romantic rebellion, adolescence and freedom.
