Kryzys tożsamości w powieściach „Świętej pamięci Mattia Pascal” i „Ferdydurke” Witolda Gombrowicza

Tematem pracy jest kryzys tożsamości w XX wieku na podstawie powieści Ferdydurke Witolda Gombrowicza oraz Świętej pamięci Mattia Pascal Luigi Pirandella. Praca podzielona jest na dwie części: w pierwszej zostaje przybliżony kontekst historyczny i kulturowy epoki oraz postaci pisarzy, co pozwala lepiej zrozumieć podłoże poruszanej tematyki. W drugiej części za pomocą metody komparatystycznej porównane zostają powieści i ich protagoniści pod kątem obecności tematyki maski, a także formy, które są podstawowymi pojęciami dla motywu kryzysu tożsamości. Omówione zostają także zagadnienie „niedojrzałości” sformułowanej przez Witolda Gombrowicza oraz pojęcie „umorismo” Luigi Pirandella, które są istotne dla twórczości pisarzy. Celem pracy jest ukazanie podobieństw w postrzeganiu człowieka i jego roli w społeczeństwie, a także zaobserwowanie tych samych zjawisk i konwencji społecznych, które są obecne w różnych kulturach i społeczeństwach.

Il tema della tesi è la crisi d’identità nel Novecento presentata sulla base dei romanzi Ferdydurke di Witold Gombrowicz e Il Fu Mattia Pascal di Luigi Pirandello. La tesi è divisa in due parti: nella prima viene delineato il contesto storico e culturale d’epoca e le figure degli scrittori che permettono a comprendere meglio la genesi del tema. Nella seconda parte attraverso il metodo comparativo vengono paragonati i romanzi dal punto di vista della presenza della tematica di maschera e forma che costituiscono concetti fondamentali per il motivo della crisi d’identità. Inoltre vengono mostrate questioni di “immaturità” concepite da Witold Gombrowicz e “l’umorismo” di Luigi Pirandello che sono importanti per la produzione letteraria degli scrittori. Lo scopo della tesi è quello di mettere in evidenza le affinità nel percepire l’uomo e il suo ruolo nella società, ma anche notare gli stessi fenomeni e le stesse convenzioni sociali che sono presenti in diverse culture e società.

The subject of the thesis is identity crisis based on the novels Ferdydurke by Witold Gombrowicz and The Late Mattia Pascal by Luigi Pirandello. The thesis is divided in two parts: in the first one is presented the historical and cultural context of the epoch, as well as the writers which allows a better understanding of the genesis of the subject at hand. In the second part, with the help of the comparative method, are compared the novels and their protagonists regarding the presence of the themes of mask and form which are fundamental concepts for the motive of the identity crisis. Moreover are discussed questions of the “immaturity” formulated by Witold Gombrowicz and “umorismo” by Luigi Pirandello which are important in terms of the work of the writers. The goal of the thesis is to show the similarities in the perception of the human and his role in society, as well as note the same phenomena and social conventions which are present in different cultures and societies.
