The fate of Polish Jews in the Soviet Union during World War II - the case of Shimon Dzigan. Translation and analysis of excerpts of memories Der kojech fun jidiszn humor.

The subject of this diploma thesis is the translation of excerpts from the autobiography of the Jewish actor Shimon Dżigan, entitled Der kojech fun jidiszn humor and their analysis. The main part of the work was preceded by an introduction explicative the topic of Jews who survived in the East. Then, the above mentioned memories were analyzed in terms of their usefulness in historical research, and the war fate of its author was depicted against the background of the general history of Polish Jewry in the territory of the USSR in 1939-1946. The work has been supplemented with quotations from the autobiography and other sources belonging to the Gulag Literature. The text of the translation is included in the Annex. This paper aims to deepen research on the history of Polish Jews in the Soviet Union during World War II.

Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy dyplomowej jest przekład fragmentów autobiografii żydowskiego aktora Szimona Dżigana pt. Der kojech fun jidiszn humor oraz ich analiza. Głowna część pracy została poprzedzona wstępem przybliżającym kwestię Żydów ocalałych na Wschodzie. Następnie przeprowadzono analizę wyżej wymienionych wspomnień pod kątem przydatności w badaniach historycznych, a także zobrazowano wojenne losy jej autora na tle ogólnych dziejów polskiego żydostwa na terenach ZSRR w latach 1939-1946. Praca została uzupełniona cytatami zaczerpniętymi z tekstu autobiografii oraz innych źródeł należących do kręgu literatury łagrowej. W Aneksie dołączono tekst przekładu. Niniejsza praca ma na celu pogłębienie badań na temat dziejów Żydów polskich w Związku Radzieckim w okresie II wojny światowej.
