Philip Roth i Natan Zuckerman - konstruowanie tożsamości i autobiograficzność

Praca pod tytułem "Philip Roth i Natan Zuckerman - kształtowanie tożsamości i autobiograficzność" ma na celu analizę i interpretację relacji między autorem i jego alter ego. Składa się z sześciu rozdziałów: wstępu, części teoretycznej, w której wyjaśnione są zagadnienia tożsamości narracyjnej i autobiograficzności, części biograficznej, przedstawiającej sylwetki Rotha i Zuckermana, interpretacji - podzielonej na dwa rozdziały - oraz zakończenia. Starano się dokonać analizy budowania tożsamości i autobiograficzności na podstawie książek Rotha o Zuckermanie oraz autobiografii autora. Na podstawie własnej interpretacji i literatury przedmiotu, wysunięto wnioski o głębokiej zależności między Rothem i Zuckermanem, wykraczającej poza standardową relację między autorem i jego alter ego. Zjawisko to jest szczególnie widoczne w listach, zawartych w autobiografii Rotha i zostaje omówione w rozdziale czwartym. W rozdziale piątym starano się wykazać, że to fikcja, nie autobiografia, jest formą, w której Roth najlepiej buduje własną tożsamość jako pisarza. Zwrócono również uwagę na terapeutyczne aspekty samego konstruowania opowieści. Ze względu na brak odpowiedniej literatury przedmiotu nie udało się w pełni rozwinąć wątku związanego z tożsamością samego Zuckermana.

The work entitled "Philip Roth and Natan Zuckerman - identity construction and autobiography" aims to analyze and interpret the relationship between the author and his alter ego. It consists of six chapters: the introduction, the theoretical part in which the issues of narrative identity and autobiography are explained, the biographical part presenting the profiles of Roth and Zuckerman, the interpretation - divided into two chapters - and the ending. Attempts were made to analyze the process of identity construction and autobiography on the basis of Roth's Zuckerman books and the author's autobiography. Based on my own interpretation and literature, conclusions were drawn about a deep relationship between Roth and Zuckerman, going beyond the standard relationship between the author and his alter ego. This phenomenon is particularly evident in the letters included in Roth's autobiography and is discussed in Chapter Four. In Chapter Five I try to show that fiction, not autobiography, is the form in which Roth best constructs his own identity as a writer. The therapeutic aspects of storytelling itself were also highlighted. Due to the lack of appropriate literature on the subject of identity, it was not possible to fully develop the thread related to the identity of Zuckerman himself.
