The BA thesis focuses on the issue of textual image of the world, which is described based on “Thank You, Capitan, Thank You” by Arkady Fiedler. The thesis is to present, how the theory of textual image of the world manifests itself in the text. It also shows the way in which the author creates his own reality in his book, using the language system.Introduction to the thesis includes the author’s biography and also specificity of his writing. Moreover there are consideration of the reportage as a genre and its role during the World War II.The theoretical chapter consists of the description of linguistic image of the world concept, which includes theories that were arising in different places. Not only does the thesis include the Polish theories of this concept, but also concepts from other European countries and from USA. In this chapter the textual image of the world concept is also described, and it is connected to the theory of the linguistic image of the world. Theoretical chapter consists of categorization theories and it accents the differences between them, as well. In this part of the thesis there is the description of the theories of lexical and semantic fields.In the practical chapter the lexical and semantic fields, which were extracted from the text, were analyzed. These fields are natural categories. Each of them includes excerptions from the text, which were grouped, described and interpreted. The summary includes final conclusions concerning the textual image of the world, which are based on analysis and interpretation of each field from the text. It shows also various ways used by the author to create textual reality.

Praca poświęcona jest zagadnieniu tekstowego obrazu świata, omówionego na przykładzie utworu „Dziękuję Ci, kapitanie” A. Fiedlera. Ma ona na celu przedstawienie, w jaki sposób pojęcie tekstowego obrazu świata przejawia się w konkretnym tekście, a także to, jak autor kształtuje tekstową rzeczywistość, wykorzystując system językowy.Wstęp zawiera biogram autora, a także poświęcony jest specyfice jego pisarstwa. We wstępie znajdują się rozważania na temat reportażu jako gatunku oraz jego roli podczas II wojny światowej.Rozdział teoretyczny pracy składa się z omówienia pojęcia językowego obrazu świata. Omówienie to uwzględnia teorie, powstałe na gruncie językoznawstwa europejskiego, językoznawstwa Stanów Zjednoczonych oraz językoznawstwa polskiego. W tym rozdziale przedstawione zostało również pojęcie tekstowego obrazu świata, które wiąże się z pojęciem JOŚ. Rozdział teoretyczny zawiera rozważania na temat kategoryzacji i kategorii, a także pól leksykalno-semantycznych.W części praktycznej analizie językowej zostały poddane pola leksykalno-semantyczne wyodrębnione z tekstu na drodze kategoryzacji, zgodnie z teoriami dotyczącymi kategorii naturalnych. Każda z tych kategorii zawiera cytaty materiałowe, które zostały opisane i zinterpretowane.Podsumowanie obejmuje końcowe wnioski dotyczące tekstowego obrazu świata w utworze, które oparte są na analizie i interpretacji każdego z pól tematycznych. W podsumowaniu uwzględniłam także środki stylistyczne, którymi posłużył się autor w celu wykreowania tekstowej rzeczywistości.
