Science fiction and the image of an era. Analysis of topics covered in Czech science-fiction prose of the 1920s based on the trilogy V soumraku lidstva by Tomáš Hrubý

Praca poświęcona jest analizie tematów realizowanych w czeskiej prozie fantastycznonaukowej lat 20. XX wieku. Za utwór bazowy posłużyła trylogia "V soumraku lidstva" autorstwa Tomáša Hrubego. W pierwszej części przedstawiono analizę terminu science fiction oraz zwięzłą historię fantastyki naukowej na świecie oraz w Czechach do początku XX wieku. Kolejne rozdziały pracy poświęcone są przedstawieniu twórczości Tomáša Hrubego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem trylogii "V soumraku lidstva" oraz jej kontynuacji, a także analizie wątków tematycznych pojawiających się w każdej z powieści, takich jak koncepcje rozwoju politycznego Europy i świata, katastrofizm, zmiany klimatu, niepokoje społeczne i konflikty rasowe, a także nowoczesne technologie i związane z nimi zagrożenia.

The following work revolves around the analysis of the topics covered in Czech science-fiction prose of the 1920s based on the trilogy "V soumraku lidstva" by Tomáš Hrubý The first part presents an analysis of the term science fiction and a concise history of science fiction as a literary genre until the beginning of the 20th century. The main chapters are devoted to the literary work of Tomáš Hrubý, with particular emphasis on the trilogy "V soumraku lidstva" and its continuation, as well as the analysis of the main topics covered in each of the novels, such as the concepts of Europe's and global political development, catastrophism, climate changes, social unrest and racial conflicts, as well as modern technologies and the risks associated with them.
