Kultur anhand des Romans ,,Der Steppenwolf“ von Hermann Hesse

Das Thema meiner Bachelorarbeit lautet: Kultur anhand des Romans ,,Der Steppenwolf“ von Hermann Hesse. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es zu beleuchten, welchen Einfluss die Kultur auf das Leben des Protagonisten nimmt. Der Begriff Kultur hat viele Bedeutungen. Für meine Arbeit habe ich somit drei Definitionen der Kultur ausgewählt und ich habe sie in einzelnen Kapiteln dargelegt. Im ersten Kapitel habe ich die Kultur als Opposition der Natur dargestellt. Der Protagonist Harry Haller hat in sich zwei Naturen. Das heißt, er besitzt sowohl menschliche als auch wölfische Eigenschaften. Die menschliche Seite des Steppenwolfes repräsentiert die Kultur, die wölfische Seite steht dagegen für die Natur. Das zweite Kapitel habe ich der Alltagskultur gewidmet. Präziser gesagt habe ich Maria, Hermine und Pablo besprochen. Im dritten Kapitel dagegen habe ich die Kultur als hohe Kunst dargestellt. Das heißt, ich habe das Magische Theater, die Hauptvertreter der Hochkultur: Goethe und Mozart und das Lachen als Heilmittel geschildert. Anhand meiner Untersuchung kann ich feststellen, dass das Leben des Steppenwolfes vorwiegend durch die Kultur geprägt wurde. Konkret gesagt schafft der Mensch die Kultur, darum ist er auch ein Teil davon.

Temat mojej pracy licencjackiej brzmi: kultura na podstawie powieści ,,Wilka stepowego" Hermanna Hesse. Celem niniejszej pracy jest ukazanie wpływu kultury na głównego bohatera. Termin kultura ma wiele znaczeń. Do swojej pracy wybrałam trzy definicje kultury i przedstawiłam je w poszczególnych rozdziałach. W pierwszym zestawiłam kulturę z naturą. Główny bohater Harry Haller ma dwie natury. To znaczy, posiada on zarówno ludzkie jak i wilcze cechy. Ludzkie cechy odpowiadają kulturze, natomiast wilcze naturze. Drugi rozdział poświęciłam kulturze codziennej. Dokładniej mówiąc opisałam Marię, Herminę i Pablo. W trzecim rozdziale natomiast przedstawiłam kulturę jako sztukę wysoką. To znaczy opisałam teatr magiczny, głównych reprezentantów kultury wysokiej: Goethe i Mozarta oraz śmiech jako środek leczniczy. Po opracowaniu tematu mogę stwierdzić, że życie Harrego Hallera jest ukształtowane głównie przez kulturę. Dokładniej ujmując, człowiek tworzy kulturę więc jest także jej częścią.

The subject of my bachelor's dissertation is: culture in the novel “Der Steppenwolf” by Hermann Hesse. The aim of my bachelor’s dissertation is to elucidate what an impact of the culture on a protagonist is. The word culture has many different meanings. I chose three definitions of the culture and I divided my dissertation into three major chapters. In the first chapter I depicted the opposition between culture and nature. A protagonist Harry Haller is of two natures: the human and the wolfish. The human side of Harry represents the culture and the wolfish one refers to the nature. The second chapter focuses on the representatives of the popular culture i.e. Hermine, Pablo and Maria. The third chapter contains an analysis of the high culture. It means that I described the Magic Theater, the laugh and the main representatives of the high culture: Goethe and Mozart. On the basis of my analysis I can confirm that Harry’s life was shaped by the culture. Broadly speaking, the man creates the culture that’s why he is also a part of it.
