The aim of this study is to describe the impact of the organizational culture on the process of learning in academic libraries. The academic library is characterized as a learning organization which has to meet specific requirements to make the process of learning efficient and effective. The organizational culture that may have the positive influence on the learning process in the academic library is analysed in terms of power distance, individualism vs collectivism and the level of tolerance to uncertainty. In the era of information and knowledge academic libraries have to be transformed into learning organizations and librarians - into knowledge professionals.
