World Social Forum as the arena for creation of lasting change within social consciousness : in the era of neoliberal globalization

The major goal of the article is to analyse selected social consequences of the World Social Forum of 2015: Another world is possible! Materials gathered during the Forum will be analysed (produced during the forum documents; leaflets, visual material recorded, participant observation material). Three key questions of the article are: how the participants of the WSF define conditio of contemporary world?; who should change the world for the better and by using which methods?; what is the vision of the alternative to neoliberał world? Thesis of the article: WSF is the arena of a fundamental change in perceving the world as a whole, it is an alternative to the contemporaty dominat neoliberał vision. That new global fenomenology defines neoliberalism neither as the only one possible way of organizing societies nor as unchangeable. Therefore, the neoliberał globalisation is on the wane. WSF helps to create heroic utopia. The new alternative world is not only discussed there, but it materializes itself in many different localities and inspires others to further actions in that direction.

Celem artykułu jest refleksja nad społecznymi konsekwencjami spotkań w ramach Światowego Forum Społecznego, które odbyło się pod hasłem „Inny świat jest możliwy” (ang. Another world is possibile!). Analizie zostaną poddane wybrane materiały zgromadzone podczas Światowego Forum Społecznego (ang. World Social Foru WSF) z 2015 roku, które obradowało w Tunisie (Tunezja). Oto trzy kluczowe pytania: jaki jest współczesny świat w oglądzie uczestników i uczestniczek Forum?; kto powinien „zmieniać świat na lepszy” oraz przy użyciu jakich metod?; jaki powinien być alternatywny/lepszy świat na przykładzie wybranych wątków dokumentów? Teza artykułu: spotkania odbywające się w ramach Światowego Forum Społecznego są areną tworzenia fundamentalnej zmiany w sposobie myślenia o świecie jako całości. Jest to sposób myślenia o świecie alternatywny w stosunku do obecnie dominującego. Neoliberalna globalizacja nie jest w owej nowej globalnej fenomenologii, ani jedynym sposobem organizowania życia ludzi współcześnie, ani, tym bardziej, nie jest nieodwracalna. Innymi słowy, neoliberalna globalizacja nie jest czymś trwałym. To, co powstaje w ramach WSF, to swoista globalna, heroiczna utopia. „Inny/lepszy świat” jest nie tylko dyskutowany, ale również materializuje się w projektach i wydarzeniach umiejscowionych w różnych częściach świata, a jego spektakularne manifestacje inspirują i mobilizują uczestników i uczestniczki WSF do dalszych działań.
