"Egzotyka Orientu" w dobie globalizacji

The Western philosophy of cultures went through a paradigmatic change after it had recognized that its earlier attitudes, such as colonialism and orientalism, gave a distorted picture of non-Western worlds. In its new paradigm developed here philosophy of cultures has for its task not only to find a new perspective and methodology, but also to depict the new shape of the world, which is now, at this very moment, emerging in the unclear and not fully understood process of globalization. Intercultural contacts in today’s world changed dramatically in comparison to earlier times and their effects may impact the whole world. Therefore, the new philosophy of the cultures of the East appears to be essential in the investigation of new faces of cultural identities that arise in intercultural encounters and collisions between the West and the broadly understood East.

Obecna zachodnia refleksja nad kulturami, po rozpoznaniu wcześniejszych swoich postaw, takich jak kolonializm czy orientalizm - fałszujących obraz obcego świata, ma przed sobą nie tylko wyzwanie znalezienia nowej perspektywy i metody badawczej; stoi przed zadaniem opisania nowego kształtu świata, jaki w tej chwili na naszych oczach wykuwa się w skomplikowanym, niejasnym i nie do końca zrozumianym procesie globalizacji. Wzajemne kontakty międzykulturowe przybierają postać inną niż kiedykolwiek wcześniej, a wyniki tych kontaktów mogą wpłynąć na zmianę obrazu całego ludzkiego świata. Dlatego filozofia kultury Wschodu staje się teraz tak istotna, a jej badania - śledzące nowe postacie tożsamości kulturowych, wyłaniające się w spotkaniach i zderzeniach - dla tych właśnie nowych tożsamości mogą się stać kluczowe.
