Zeszyty Naukowe Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. Prace Etnograficzne
The main theme of this volume is to discuss the sources of ideas postulated by new museology and underline conceptions developed beyond Anglo-Saxon sphere (that is fulfilled in Nikola Krstović’s article), as well as to diagnose present areas of museum practice: the tasks which have arisen and require efforts of practitioners and theoreticians of museology. The latter appears to focus on social role of institutions and their engagement in contemporary challenges, particularly the climate crisis. Hence, most of the gathered articles raise the issues of museum ecology and sustainability, responsibility for the landscape and activism in the field of climate emergency. These topics are undertaken by Prof. Nick Merriman,
Katarzyna Jagodzińska and Melania Tutak, and Katarzyna Maniak, the author of this introduction.
Morever, the current volume of the “Ethnographic Works” contains commentaries by Anna Manicka, who discusses the collecting policy of the Department of Contemporary Prints and Drawings in the National Museum in Warsaw, and by Sara Herczyńska, who proposes the particular framework of analyzing the museum guides’ practice.
