High school Sarmatians, high school ladies : the chances of overcoming the language barrier impeding the understanding of old Polish works

Celem tekstu jest określenie najistotniejszych trudności, z jakimi spotykają się licealiści w kontakcie z utworami dawnymi. Największe przeszkody wyodrębniono na podstawie analizy krótkich wypowiedzi, pisanych z użyciem staropolskich słów. W artykule znalazły się sposoby na pokonanie bariery językowej dawnych utworów, np. poprzez tworzenie "portretów pamięciowych" postaci literackich za pośrednictwem internetowego narzędzia.

The purpose of the paper is to identify the most important difficulties faced by high school pupils dealing with Old Polish works. The biggest obstacles were distinguished on the basis of the analysis of short utterances, written with Old Polish words. In the article the author presents ways of overcoming the language barrier of the old works, e.g. by creating "memory images" of literary characters through an online tool.
