Istnieje wyraźna potrzeba podjęcia nowych prób zajęcia się treścią i zakresem wolności religii. W tym tomie badamy, czy znaczenie wolności religii i jej treści zależą od tradycji kulturowych każdego społeczeństwa, a jeśli tak, to w jakim stopniu. Niniejsza publikacja stara się odpowiedzieć na te pytania, dostarczając kompleksową i porównawczą analizę, która opiera się na orzecznictwie i aksjologii. Czyni to przede wszystkim poprzez zbadanie podstaw, jakie sądy krajowe i międzynarodowe wypracowały, rozstrzygając głośne sprawy dotyczące wolności religii, wolności sumienia i innych praw pokrewnych. W tym celu w tomie zebrano spostrzeżenia uczonych i obrońców wolności religijnej z krajów leżących na pięciu kontynentów.

There is a clear need for new attempts to address the content and scope of this human right. In this volume, we examine whether the meaning of religious freedom and its contents are dependent on each society’s cultural traditions, and if so, to what extent. This publication attempts to answer these questions by providing a comprehensive and comparative analysis that draws on legal reasoning and axiology. It does so principally by examining the fundaments that national and international courts have developed when deciding prominent cases related to freedom of religion, freedom of conscience and other related rights. With this purpose in mind, the volume brings together the insights of scholars and advocates of religious freedom from countries spanning the five continents.
