A village remembered. Reconstruction of the Lemko cultural space from before the displacement on the example of Bartne village.

Niniejsza praca dotyczy przestrzeni kulturowej wsi Bartne, której specyfika polega na destrukcji jej krajobrazu spowodowanej wysiedleniem w ramach Akcji „Wisła”, a także w mniejszym stopniu przesiedleniami do USRR. Celem pracy jest odtworzenie tej przestrzeni w oparciu o narracje Łemków, którzy byli świadkami tego procesu lub są spokrewnieni z osobami pamiętającymi Bartne sprzed 1947 roku. Dla wypełnienia zadania, jakim było możliwie najwierniejsze odtworzenie przestrzeni Bartnego, koniecznym było przeanalizowanie pojęcia przestrzeni z uwzględnieniem pewnych jej typów, będących w kontekście badań nad mniejszościami szczególnie istotnymi. W pracy zarysowane zostało szerokie tło geograficzno-historyczne Bartnego oraz regionu Beskidu Niskiego, będące podstawą do dalszych analiz i porównań. Ostatnim etapem pracy jest analiza wypowiedzi mieszkańców wsi, odtworzenie krajobrazu Bartnego oraz zbadanie w jakim stopniu jest on spójny ze sporządzonym wcześniej na podstawie literatury dokumentalnej opisem wsi. Ostatecznie, zgodnie z założeniami pracy, na podstawie wspomnień mieszkańców Bartnego udało się odtworzyć przedwysiedleńczą przestrzeń wsi, w której zawierały się: architektura, układ wsi, lokalne nazewnictwo i ludzie.

This work concerns the cultural space of the village of Bartne, the specificity of which lies in the destruction of its landscape caused by displacement during the Operation Vistula, and to a lesser extent by resettlement to the USRR. The aim of this work is to reconstruct this space on the basis of Lemkos' narrations, who witnessed this process or are related to people who remember Bartne from before 1947. In order to fulfil the task of reconstructing the space of Bartne as accurately as possible, it was necessary to analyse the concept of space taking into account certain types of space which are particularly important in the context of research on minorities. A broad geographical and historical background of Bartne and the Low Beskids region was outlined in the study, providing a basis for further analyses and comparisons. The final stage of the work is to analyse the statements of the village inhabitants, to reconstruct the landscape of Bartne, and to examine to what extent it is consistent with the description of the village made earlier on the basis of documentary literature. Finally, according to the assumptions of the study, on the basis of the memories of the inhabitants of Bartne, it was possible to reconstruct the pre-settlement space of the village, which included: architecture, village layout, local names and people.
