Wyzwania w tłumaczeniu nośników obcości w przekładzie audiowizualnym. Serial Patria w reżyserii Félixa Viscarreta y Óscara Pedrazy

This thesis examines the polish translation of cultural references in the series “Patria” by Félix Viscarret and Óscar Pedraza, which aired on September 27, 2020. The aims of this work is to observe if the version subtitled into Polish shows the tendency towards foreignization or domestication of cultural diversity and, also, to find out what is the image of the Basque Country that emerges from said version of the series and how do the Spanish and Basque cultural matters move from one language to another. Therefore, the topic of audiovisual translation will be explored, especially one of its variants, subtitles, and information will be provided on cultural references in the AVT, as well as on the techniques used in their translation. Later, the issue of the socio-historical context in which the plot of the series and the novel on which it is based are set will be developed. The most important data on the production of HBO's “Patria” will also be provided. Next, a classification of cultural references will be carried out, and then the culturemes present in the audiovisual product that constitutes the corpus of study will be presented and their translation will be analyzed. The translation tendency and the image of the Basque Country visible in the Polish translation will be determined according to the results of the analysis.

Niniejsza praca bada polskie tłumaczenie odniesień kulturowych w serialu „Patria” Félixa Viscarreta i Óscara Pedrazy, który został wyemitowany 27 września 2020 roku. Celem tej pracy jest przyjrzenie się, czy wersja serialu z polskimi napisami wykazuje tendencję do egzotyzacji czy udomowienia inności kulturowej, a także zbadanie, jaki obraz Kraju Basków wyłania się z tej wersji i jak przetłumaczone zostały materie kulturowe baskijska i hiszpańska. Dlatego też zbadany zostanie temat tłumaczenia audiowizualnego, szczególnie jeden z jego wariantów, napisy filmowe oraz zaprezentowane zostaną informacje na temat odniesień kulturowych w przekładzie audiowizualnym, jak i na temat technik stosowanych w ich tłumaczeniu. Następnie przestudiowana zostanie kwestia kontekstu społeczno-historycznego, w którym osadzona jest fabuła serialu oraz powieść, na której jest on oparty. Przedstawione zostaną również najważniejsze informacje dotyczące produkcji „Patrii” HBO. Później przeprowadzony zostanie podział odniesień kulturowych, a następnie zostaną zaprezentowane przykłady kulturemów, które obecne są w korpusie badania i nastąpi analiza ich przekładu. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników analizy zostanie określona tendencja przekładowa i to, jaki obraz Kraju Basków widoczny jest w polskim tłumaczeniu.

El presente estudio investiga la traducción polaca de los referentes culturales en la serie “Patria” de Félix Viscarret y Óscar Pedraza que se estrenó el 27 de septiembre de 2020. El objetivo de este trabajo es observar si la versión subtitulada al polaco muestra la tendencia a la extranjerización o a la domesticación de la diversidad cultural y, también, averiguar cuál es la imagen del País Vasco que surge de dicha versión de la serie y cómo se trasladan de una lengua a otra las materias culturales vasca y española. Por lo tanto, se indagará en el tema de la traducción audiovisual, especialmente en la variante de la subtitulación y se proporcionará información sobre los referentes culturales en la TAV, asimismo como sobre las técnicas de su traducción. Posteriormente, se desarrollará la cuestión del contexto sociohistórico en el que está ambientada la trama de la serie y de la novela en la que aquella se basa. Se suministrarán también los datos más importantes sobre la producción de “Patria” de HBO. A continuación, se realizará una clasificación los referentes culturales. Más adelante, se recogerán las muestras de culturemas presentes en el producto audiovisual que constituye el corpus de estudio y se procederá a un análisis de su traducción. Según los resultados obtenidos se determinará cuál tendencia traductora y qué imagen del País Vasco demuestra la traducción polaca.
