City-walking guide to independent art galleries, or the special character of grassroots initiatives of the city’s artists

The article constitutes a reflection on modern art galleries established by artists in Krakow. Using Widna and Nasz ogródek as examples, it presents these spaces not only as the place of dialogue between artists, curators and visitors, but also as places that create an alternative world of art in the city. The figure of a flâneur has been used to describe these dynamics, thereby suggesting narrative language as a possible tool for studying independent art institutions.

Artykuł stanowi refleksję na temat współczesnych galerii zakładanych przez artystów w Krakowie. Na przy-kładzie inicjatyw Widna i Nasz ogródek ukazuje te przestrzenie jako miejsca dialogu artystów, kuratorów i odbiorców, a także jako miejsca budujące alternatywny obieg sztuki w mieście. Do opisania tych zależności wykorzystano figurę flâneura, wskazując na możliwość wykorzystania narracyjnego języka do badań nad niezależnymi instytucjami sztuki.
