An outline of a phenomenological theory of value

W artykule niniejszym opiszemy zasadnicze zręby fenomenologicznej teorii wartości. Podstawowe tezy sformułował Franz Brentano. Sposobem epistemicznego dostępu do wartości są według niego emocje. Emocje opisuje zaś jako stany intencjonalne, w stosunku do których można sensownie postawić pytania o ich prawidłowość i uzasadnienie. Sam Brentano w swych opublikowanych pismach był antyrealistą w stosunku do wartości, jednak tradycja fenomenologiczna poszła tu raczej za ujęciem Antona Marty’ego, który bierze wartości ontologicznie poważnie, choć zarazem traktuje je ostatecznie jako byty superweniujące na własnościach czysto opisowych.

In the papers the fundamentals of the phenomenological theory of values are outlined. The basic statements have been formulated by Franz Brentano. According to him what constitutes our epistemic access to values are emotions. Emotions are described as intentional states for which it makes a perfect sense to ask about their correctness and justification. In his published works Brentano was antirealist about values, but the phenomenological tradition followed rather the views of Anton Marty, who takes values ontologically seriously, even though at the end of the day construes them as entities supervenient on purely descriptive properties.
