"We need more feminist explosions"
The subject of the article is the specificity of the #metoo movement
in the world and in Poland. Starting with an analysis of the
book Polite by Gro Dahle (text) and Svein Nyhus (illustrations) and
drawing on Sarah Ahmed's theory (e.g. concerning the phenomenon
of "snap", i.e. a violent action caused by frustration, growing
agitation, emotional inability to bear the existing situation), the
author discusses the specificity of the movement and its manifestations
in the public space abroad and in Poland. She takes a closer
look at the peformance of the Chilean feminist collective Las
Tesis, which has spread around the world as a vortex. She also
analyses the presence of this performance in the Polish public
space, which leads her to reflect on the specificity of the #metoo
movement in Poland. Finally, she emphasises that both the book
Polite and the performance Las Tesis, despite their differences,
stem from a similar emancipatory philosophy. They initiate the
process of emergence of a new female subjectivity: brave, listening
to her needs, incorrigible, knowing her value and rights, and
knowing how to enforce them.
