This study provides important observation and analysis of intellectual property ownership and remuneration practices at several most innovative universities in the world. The research describes the main levels of regulations on ownership and remuneration on national and institutional level. Most of university policies are based on initial framework or recommendations provided by the national law. Revealed findings allow to cluster relationship between academic inventors and institutions based on ownership and remuneration policies for academic IP. Findings suggest four main models determining academic IP ownership and several remuneration schemes for the inventors upon creation and commercialization of IP.
