Janina Jasicka and her “mediated archive” of the provincial board of the Women’s League in Krakow

Artykuł jest poświęcony wyjątkowemu pod względem formy i zawartości archiwum powojennego krakowskiego Wojewódzkiego Zarządu Ligi Kobiet, jakim jest zbiór dokumentów różnego charakteru i pochodzenia, zachowany w spuściźnie Janiny Jasickiej w Archiwum Narodowym w Krakowie. Ta niejednorodna kolekcja określona została mianem „archiwum zapośredniczonego”, ponieważ jest ono zaprzeczeniem tradycyjnego, uporządkowanego archiwum instytucjonalnego, a jego kształt jest wynikiem świadomych wyborów pośrednika, czyli kronikarki Zarządu. Przypadkowość zachowanych materiałów powoduje, że w zbiorach znajdujemy np. nieobecne w innych archiwach unikatowe fotografie czy też czynione prawdopodobnie tylko na prywatny użytek notatki o poszczególnych działaczkach.

The article is devoted to the unique in terms of form and content archive of the post-war Krakow Provincial Board of the League of Women, which is a collection of documents of various nature and origin, preserved in the legacy of Janina Jasicka in the National Archives in Krakow . This heterogeneous collection has been called the “mediated archive” because it is a contradiction to the traditional, structured institutional archive, and its shape is the result of the deliberate choices of the intermediary, i .e . the chronicler of the Management . The randomness of the preserved materials means that the collections include, for example, unique photo- graphs that are absent from other archives, or, for example, notes about individual activists, probably made only for private use.
