Wolna wola, świadomość i jaźń – jak te pojęcia mogą być powiązane?

The aim of this paper is to review the notions and research related to the topic of free will, as well as going over the link between free will, consciousness, and the self, that is whether the phenomenon of free will may result from the existence of the concept of self. The review is based on the neuro-cognitive aspects, although it also touches upon the philosophical issues to better consider the possible explanations for the free will phenomenon. Several of the most important neurological studies conducted so far in that area are discussed, the possible implications of the studies’ results, as well as the arguments for the idea that free will and the self are important to one another.

Celem pracy jest przegląd pojęć i badań związanych z tematyką wolnej woli oraz przyjrzenie się kwestii jej relacji ze świadomością i jaźnią, tj. czy zjawisko wolnej woli może wynikać z istnienia konceptu „ja”. Przegląd ten rozważa głównie aspekty neurokognitywne, wspomina jednak też o kwestiach filozoficznych, próbując ustalić możliwe wyjaśnienia samego zjawiska wolnej woli. Omówionych zostaje kilka najważniejszych badań w temacie neurologii wolnej woli, ich możliwe implikacje oraz argumenty za ideą, że zjawiska wolnej woli i jaźni są w ważny sposób ze sobą powiązane.
