The process of digitalisation of the banking sector in Poland

The aim of this paper is to present the process of digitalisation of the Polish banking sector. The first chapter characterises the concept of electronic banking and presents the history of digitalisation of the banking sector in Poland. Moreover, the evolution of electronic payment instruments and the development of internet and mobile banking are described. The second chapter contains information about the security of electronic banking products and services, as well as threats and security features in electronic banking. The third chapter analyses the impact of digitalisation on the structure of employment in the Polish banking sector and the transformation of the network of banking outlets in Poland. It also discusses the issue of changes in customer behaviour caused by the digitalisation of banking products and services, and presents the conditions and prospects for the development of e-banking in Poland. The paper is based on the analysis of the subject literature, scientific publications and reports published by institutions forming the Polish banking sector.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie procesu digitalizacji polskiego sektora bankowego. W rozdziale pierwszym scharakteryzowano pojęcie bankowości elektronicznej oraz przedstawiono historię digitalizacji sektora bankowego w Polsce. Ponadto omówiona została ewolucja elektronicznych instrumentów płatniczych oraz rozwój bankowości internetowej oraz mobilnej. W rozdziale drugim zawarto informacje dotyczące bezpieczeństwa elektronicznych produktów i usług bankowych, a także przedstawiono zagrożenia oraz zabezpieczenia występujące w bankowości elektronicznej. Rozdział trzeci został poświęcony analizie wpływu digitalizacji na strukturę zatrudnienia w polskim sektorze bankowym oraz analizie przeobrażeń sieci placówek bankowych w Polsce. Poruszono również kwestię zmian zachowań klientów pod wpływem digitalizacji produktów i usług bankowych oraz przedstawiono uwarunkowania i perspektywy rozwoju bankowości elektronicznej w Polsce. Praca powstała na podstawie analizy literatury przedmiotu, publikacji naukowych oraz raportów publikowanych przez instytucje tworzące polski sektor bankowy.
