Comparative analysis of the financial situation of entities in the gaming industry on examples of the CD PROJEKT Capital Group and the Ten Square Games S.A. Capital Group

Celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest przedstawienie sytuacji finansowej podmiotów z branży gamedev w Polsce. W części teoretycznej omówiono najważniejsze zagadnienia związane z analizą finansową oraz sprawozdawczością przedsiębiorstw według standardów krajowych i międzynarodowych. W części empirycznej natomiast przedstawiono wyniki badań, których głównym celem była analiza porównawcza sytuacji finansowej podmiotów branży gamingowej, którą oparto na przykładach dwóch Grup Kapitałowych – CD PROJEKT oraz Ten Square Games S.A. Proces badawczy zrealizowano przy zastosowaniu metody studium przypadku oraz analizy danych zastanych, tj. dokumentów wewnętrznych badanych podmiotów (głównie skonsolidowanych sprawozdań finansowych) oraz ogólnodostępnych raportów branżowych, które stanowiły główne źródła danych empirycznych wykorzystanych w niniejszej pracy. Na podstawie wyników przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, że przyjęta w pracy teza została udowodniona. Oznacza to, że w latach 2018-2020 kondycja finansowa Grupy CD PROJEKT kształtowała się na lepszym poziomie w części badanych obszarów działalności, w porównaniu do Grupy Ten Square Games S.A.

The aim of this master's thesis is to present the financial situation of entities in the gaming industry in Poland. The theoretical part characterises major issues of financial analysis and financial reporting under Polish and International Financial Reporting Standards. The empirical part presents the results of the research whose main purpose was to conduct comparative analysis of the financial situation of entities in the gaming industry, based on two main capital groups in Polish gamedev – CD PROJEKT and Ten Square Games S.A. The research process was carried out using the case study method as well as data analysis of internal financial documents (primarily consolidated financial statements) and open-access industry reports that were the main sources of empirical data used in this master's thesis. The results of the research suggest that the main thesis adopted in the study was proven. The obtained results of the comparative financial analysis indicate that some of the analysed areas of financial activity of the CD PROJEKT Capital Group were better as compared to the Ten Square Games S.A. Capital Group.
