Volunteering - altruism or selfishness?

Celem pracy dyplomowej jest odpowiedź na pytanie: „Czy ludzie podejmują się wolontariatu z powodów altruistycznych czy egoistycznych?”. Wolontariat jest działalnością, która rozwijała się przez wieki. Aktualnie pojęcie to rozumie się jako świadomą, dobrowolną i bezpłatną formę pomocy na rzecz innych osób. Kluczowym zagadnieniem tejże pracy jest motywacja wolontariuszy. Możemy wyróżnić motywacje egoistyczne oraz motywacje altruistyczne. Analiza badań dostępnych w Internecie pozwala wysnuć wnioski, że wśród ochotników przeważają motywacje egoistyczne. Egoizm ten jednak wbrew pozorom można określić jako pozytywny.

The aim of the thesis is to answer the question: „Do people volunteer for altruistic or selfish reasons?”. Volunteering is an activity that has developed over the centuries. Currently, this concept is understood as a conscious, voluntary and free form of help for other people. The key issue of this work is the motivation of volunteers. We can distinguish selfish and altruistic motivations. The analysis of research available on the Internet allows us to conclude that selfish motivations prevail among the volunteers. Contrary to appearances, this selfishness can be described as positive.
