This thesis focuses on the status of Romanticism in the history of Czech literature and culture, mainly in the context of the Czech national revival, and the characteristics of the specific, Czech variety of Romanticism. The first part of the thesis provides a historical background from the 17th to the 19th century in Czechia. The following part presents different approaches of Czech literary scholars concerning the nature and typology of the Czech Romanticism.

Niniejsza praca podejmuje kwestię statusu romantyzmu w historii czeskiej literatury i kultury, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kontekstu czeskiego odrodzenia narodowego, oraz problematykę specyfiki konkretnej, czeskiej odmiany romantyzmu. W pierwszej części pracy zarysowano okoliczności historyczne od XVII do XIX wieku na gruncie czeskim. Następnie przytoczone zostały koncepcje czeskich badaczy literatury dotyczące charakterystyki i typologii czeskiego romantyzmu.
