Russian presence in Africa - tradition and modern days

The activation of the Russian foreign policy in Africa in the second decade of the 21st century raises serious discussions and concerns in Western analytical institutions. The main goal of this thesis is to investigate the genesis and the main drivers of relationship shaping, by comparing the historical experiences to understand the dynamics of modern relations.Due to the specific stages of the development of the Russian state and the deep historical ties of Russian-African relations, the research in a given thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part is devoted to analyzing the genesis of relations (11th - 20th centuries). The second part is devoted to the analysis of the presence of the USSR on the African continent, based on three fundamental dimensions - the political, economic, and military dimensions. The subject of research in the third chapter is the modern stage of relationship development.By reading the given work, the reader will receive comprehensive knowledge about the genesis of Russian-African relations and the main directions of cooperation between the sides. Understanding the main aspects of this thesis could allow the reader to understand the essence of the existing connections and forecast the future dynamics of relationship development.

Aktywizacja afrykańskiego kierunku polityki zagranicznej Federacji Rosyjskiej w drugim dziesięcioleciu XXI wieku budzi poważne dyskusje i zaniepokojenie w zachodnich kręgach analitycznych. Głównym celem danej pracy jest zbadanie genezy oraz głównych bodźców kształtowania stosunków, porównując doświadczenia historyczne zrozumieć dynamikę współczesnych relacji.Ze względu na specyficzne etapy rozwoju państwa rosyjskiego i głębokie historyczne powiązania rosyjsko-afrykańskich relacji, badania danej pracy podzielono na trzy zasadnicze części. Pierwsza część pracy poświęcona analizie genezy stosunków (XI – XX wiek). Druga część pracy poświęcona analizie obecności ZSRR na kontynencie afrykańskim w oparciu o trzy zasadnicze wymiary – wymiar polityczny, gospodarczy i militarny. Przedmiotem badań trzeciego rozdziału jest współczesny etap rozwoju relacji.Dzięki przeczytaniu danej pracy czytelnik otrzyma wyczerpującą wiedzę na temat genezy rosyjsko-afrykańskich relacji oraz głównych kierunków współpracy stron. Przeczytanie i zrozumienie zawartych w niej treści pozwala na zrozumienie istoty dotychczasowych powiązań i daje możliwość do prognozowania przyszłej dynamiki rozwoju relacji.
