The education system of South Korea

This bachelor's dissertation focuses on the description and analysis of the modern education system in the Republic of Korea. The study aims to, in detail, present the structure of South Korean education, show the history of its development in the 20th century and related changes, as well as to indicate the characteristic features distinguishing the system. Part of the dissertation is also an analysis of the growing negative behaviours among young Koreans, which are contributed to by the phenomenon of educational fever and accompanying social attitudes, which are well-established in Korean culture. The information contained in this dissertation allows for an insightful depiction of the presented system, its advantages and disadvantages, as well as an emphasis on the significant impact of education on both the everyday life of South Koreans and the development of the state itself.

Niniejsza praca skupia się wokół opisu i analizy współczesnego systemu edukacji w Republice Korei. Celem pracy jest szczegółowe przedstawienie struktury południowokoreańskiej oświaty, ukazanie historii jej kształtowania w XX wieku oraz związanych z tym przemian, a także wskazanie cech charakterystycznych wyróżniających omawiany system. Praca omawia również narastające wśród młodych Koreańczyków negatywne zachowania, do których przyczynia się utrwalone w koreańskiej kulturze zjawisko gorączki edukacyjnej oraz towarzyszące mu postawy społeczne. Zawarte w pracy informacje pozwalają w sposób wnikliwy zobrazować przedstawiany system, jego zalety oraz wady, a także podkreślić istotny wpływ oświaty zarówno na życie codzienne mieszkańców Korei Południowej, jak i na rozwój samego państwa.
