Relationships with parents and hegemonic masculinity

W niniejszej pracy zostały przedstawione wyniki badań, dotyczące męskości hegemonicznej oraz jej związków z retrospektywną oceną postaw rodziców, oraz bliskością z matką i ojcem.Została podjęta próba odpowiedzi na pytanie o powody, dla których dorośli mężczyźni przejawiają cechy męskości hegemonicznej, rozumianej jako zbiór praktyk, który pozwala na utrzymanie dominacji mężczyzn nad kobietami (Connell, 2005). W badaniu wzięło udział 114 mężczyzn w wieku 20-55 lat. W celu odpowiedzi na pytania badawcze zostały wykorzystane następujące narzędzia: Kwestionariusz bliskości z matką i ojcem w adaptacji Gurby, Male Role Norms Scale Thompson and Pleck we własnym tłumaczeniu oraz KPR-Roc Mieczysława Plopy. Analiza wyników wykazała, że istnieje związek pomiędzy niepożądanymi postawami ojca oraz hegemoniczną męskością.

This paper presents the results of research on hegemonic masculinity and its relations with a retrospective assessment of parents' attitudes and closeness with the mother and father.An attempt was made to answer the question of the reasons why adult men display the traits of hegemonic masculinity, understood as a set of practices that allows men to maintain domination over women (Connell, 2005). 114 men aged 20-55 participated in the study. In order to answer the research questions, the following tools were used: the Questionnaire of Closeness with Mother and Father in the adaptation of Gurba, Male Role Norms Scale Thompson and Pleck translated by the author of the paper and KPR-Roc by Mieczysław Plopa. The analysis of the obtained results showed that there is a correlation between the father's undesirable attitudes and hegemonic masculinity.
