Victorian London prisons through the lens of John Howards penitentiary reform proposals

Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie wiktoriańskich więzień w świetle postulatów słynnego angielskiego reformatora Johna Howarda. Analizuje ona wiktoriańskie metody resocjalizacji więźniów, podejmuje próbę ich oceny i konfrontuje je z propozycjami zmian sformułowanymi przez Johna Howarda pół wieku wcześniej.

The subject of this thesis is the presentation of Victorian prisons in the light of the postulates of the famous English reformer John Howard. It examines Victorian methods of prisoner rehabilitation, attempts to evaluate them, and confronts them with the proposals for change formulated by John Howard half a century earlier.
