Podstawy ideologiczne utworzenia mandatu francuskiego w Syrii, w wybranej prasie i korespondencji z lat 1914-1920

This thesis is an attempt to present the arguments used to justify France's right to receive a mandate to administer Syria. The development of a peculiar ideology that led to the formalization of French control over this area in 1920 was the result of a long process initiated in previous epochs. In the work, the years 1914-1920 were analyzed. In part, this argumentation was only the result of current events, and to a large extent it should be due to certain national perceptions and historical thinking. The press, especially the propaganda organ of the largest French colonial organization dealing with the Levant (Comité de l'Asie Française), the "L'Asie Française" bulletin, played a significant role in creating and strengthening it.

Niniejsza praca jest próbą przedstawienia argumentacji, wykorzystywanej w celu uzasadnienia prawa Francji do otrzymania mandatu na administrowanie Syrią. Wypracowanie swoistej ideologii, która doprowadziła do sformalizowania francuskiej kontroli nad tym obszarem w 1920 roku, było wynikiem długotrwałego procesu zapoczątkowanego jeszcze w poprzednich epokach. W pracy, analizie poddane zostały lata 1914-1920. Owa argumentacja była po części tylko skutkiem bieżących wydarzeń, a w dużej mierze zawdzięczać należy ją pewnym narodowym wyobrażeniom i myśleniu historycznemu. W jej wytworzeniu i umacnianiu niebagatelną rolę odegrała prasa, a zwłaszcza organ propagandowy największej francuskiej organizacji kolonialnej zajmującej się Lewantem (Comité de l’Asie Française), czyli biuletyn ,,L’Asie Française”.
