Arria Marcella - une nouvelle représentative du fantastique de Théophile Gautier

W mojej pracy licencjackiej skupiam się na analizie opublikowanej w 1853 roku noweli fantastycznej Théophile’a Gautiera „Arria Marcella”. Staram się wykazać, że utwór spełnia kryteria przynależności do gatunku fantastycznego, a także posiada cechy charakterystyczne dla twórczości Théophile’a Gautiera. W pierwszym rozdziale krótko przedstawiam główne cechy charakterystyczne gatunku według Tzvetana Todorova oraz wizję autora. W drugim rozdziale zajmuję się funkcjonowaniem czasu i przestrzeni w utworze. Trzeci rozdział skupia się na przedstawieniu kobiety w noweli, na tle szerzej ujętej twórczości Gautiera.

The aim of my bachelor’s thesis is to analyse the motive of the fantastic inspirations in the Théophile Gautier’s short story “Arria Marcella”, published in 1852. I aim to prove that this story meets the criteria of the fantastic work and presents the characteristics of the Gautier’s writing. In the first chapter I present the Tzvetan Todorov’s definition of this genre, as well as the vision of the author. The second chapter focuses on time and space and its functioning in the story. In the third chapter I describe the portrayal of the woman set against the backdrop of Gautier’s writing.

Dans mon mémoire de licence, je me concentre sur le motif du fantastique dans la nouvelle publiée en 1852 « Arria Marcella » de Théophile Gautier. Je tente de prouver que ce récit répond aux critères de l’appartenance au genre fantastique et qu’il possède également des traits caractéristiques pour la création de Théophile Gautier. Dans le premier chapitre je présente les traits caractéristiques du genre selon Tzvetan Todorov, ainsi que la vision de l’auteur. Le deuxième chapitre analyse le cadre spatio-temporel et son importance pour l’œuvre. Dans le troisième chapitre, je décris le portait de la femme gautierienne.
