L’usage des onomatopées et des interjections dans la BD « Astérix chez les Belges » et dans sa traduction en anglais

Praca licencjacka bada stopień korespondencji tłumaczenia onomatopei i wykrzykników z francuskiego na angielski w komiksie „Astérix chez les Belges” i jego tłumaczeniu. Część teoretyczna przedstawia definicję i klasyfikację onomatopei, aby następnie pokazać różnice między onomatopeją a bardzo bliską kategorią - wykrzyknikiem. Porównanie onomatopei i wykrzykników z innymi podobnymi klasami oraz odniesienie do historii pojawienia się tych dwóch terminów pozwala lepiej zrozumieć istotę onomatopei i wykrzykników. Aby przeanalizować, czy istnieje różnica między dwiema wersjami analizowanego komiksu i dlaczego, dokonano rozliczenia. Dane zostały przeanalizowane i policzone przy użyciu klasyfikacji przedstawionej przez Chantry (2001), która rozdziela elementy na konwencjonalne i oryginalne (niekonwencjonalne). Aby pokazać różnicę użycia onomatopei i wykrzykników w dwóch językach, w analizie uwzględniono również skreślenia lub dodanie onomatopei/wykrzykników. Trójpodział przedstawiony przez Paprocką i Wesołe (2019) pozwala w określonych sytuacjach określić sposób doboru odpowiedników w języku docelowym.

Le présent mémoire de licence traite du niveau de correspondance de la traduction des onomatopées et des interjections entre la bande dessinée « Astérix chez les Belges » et sa traduction en anglais. La partie théorique présente une définition et un classement des onomatopées pour montrer ensuite les différences entre l’onomatopée et une catégorie très proche, l’interjection. La comparaison des onomatopées, des interjections avec d’autres expressions ressemblantes (mimologismes, huchements, idéophones) et la référence à l’histoire de l’apparition des deux termes permettent de mieux comprendre la nature des onomatopées et des interjections. Pour analyser les différences entre les deux versions de la bande dessinée choisie et les raisons de ces différences, la partie pratique a effectué une comptabilisation des onomatopées et des interjections dans les deux versions. Les données ont été analysées à l'aide de la classification présentée par Chantry (2001) qui distingue notamment les éléments en conventionnels et originaux (non-conventionnels). Pour mesurer les différences d'utilisation des onomatopées et interjections entre la version en français et la version en anglais, l'analyse a également tenu compte des suppressions ou des ajouts d’onomatopées ou interjections. La tripartition présentée par Paprocka et Wesola (2019) permet en certaines occasions de préciser la méthode de choix des équivalents dans la langue cible.

The bachelor's thesis deals with the level of correspondence between the use of onomatopoeia and interjections in French and English languages in the comic book « Astérix chez les Belges » and its translation. The theoretical part presents a definition and a classification of onomatopoeia in order to show the differences between this category of words and another very close category, the interjections The comparison between these two groups of words with other similar classes and the reference to the history of the appearance of the two terms make it possible to better understand the nature of onomatopoeia and interjections. In order to examine whether there is a difference between the two versions of the analyzed comic book and why this difference exists, the count has been made. The data was analyzed and counted using the classification presented by Chantry (2001) which distinguishes elements between conventional and original (non-conventional). To present the differences in the use of onomatopoeia and interjections between « Astérix chez les Belges » and its English version, the analyzis also took into account the deletions or additions of onomatopoeia/interjections. The tripartition presented by Paprocka and Wesola (2019) makes it possible in certain cases to specify the method of choosing equivalents in the destination language.
