Symbolika koloru niebieskiego w Bluets Meggie Nelson

Głównym celem pracy jest omówienie symboliki koloru niebieskiego w powieści Maggie Nelson „Bluets” (2009). We wstępie przedstawiono cel pracy i przybliżono problematykę utworu. Pierwszy rozdział dotyczy barwy jako konceptu kulturowego, a także występowania tego koloru w naturze i jego roli w narracji o nieobecnym kochanku. Drugi rozdział przedstawia indywidualny wymiar postrzegania barwy jako wrażenia estetycznego i sposoby obrazowania smutku w relacji z chorą przyjaciółką. W trzecim rozdziale ukazano zależności między przywołanymi intertekstami a kreacją narratorki. W zakończeniu pracy podkreślono, że barwa niebieska łączy w swej symbolice uniwersalne doświadczenia, zachowując jednocześnie przestrzeń dla ich indywidualnego przeżywania.

The main aim of this thesis is to discuss the symbolism of the blue colour in Maggie Nelson’s novel entitled “Bluets” (2009). The introduction focuses on the purpose of the thesis and presents the major problems of the novel. The first chapter takes into consideration colour as a cultural concept as well as its occurrence in nature and its role in the narrative about absent lover. The second chapter discusses the individual dimension in the perception of colour as an aesthetic sensation and the strategies of presenting sadness in the relationship with a sick friend. The third chapter explores the relations between the evoked intertexts and the narrator’s creation. The conclusions emphasize that blue colour may express symbolically universal experiences with openness for their individual ways of experiencing.
