Analiza założeń dotyczących relacji pomiędzy myśleniem a językiem w wybranych argumentach z metafizyki umysłu

Celem niniejszej pracy jest wykazanie, że założenia dotyczące wpływu języka na myślenie są istotne w kontekście niektórych argumentów z metafizyki umysłu. W tym celu sporządzona została krótka systematyka stanowisk dotyczących wpływu językowego, a następnie przeprowadzona została analiza klasycznych argumentów zawartych w pracy „Materialism and the Mind-Body Problem” Paula Feyerabenda, aby sprawdzić, czy występują w nich założenia dotyczące wpływu języka na myślenie. Analiza wspomnianych argumentów wykazała, że opierają się one na niewyrażonych bezpośrednio założeniach na temat wpływu języka na myślenie oraz że założenia te są istotne dla interpretacji i oceny tych argumentów.

This paper proposes a thesis that certain premises about the linguistic influence on thought are important in the context of some of the arguments presented in the metaphysics of mind. To support this thesis, a short review of existing theories on linguistic influence was presented and an analysis of the classic arguments contained in Paul Feyerabend's Materialism and the Mind-Body Problem was carried out afterwards in order to check whether they contained presuppositions about linguistic influence. The analysis of these arguments has shown that they are guided by implicit theoretical assumptions about the linguistic influence on thought and that these assumptions are relevant to the interpretation and evaluation of these arguments.
