Nowa Huta as a center of value. Perspective of young residents in postindustrial district in Cracow

The main purpose of this bachelor thesis is showing the perspective of young residents in relation to the space they live in, that is one of the districts of Kraków - Nowa Huta. This study examines the role of space in influencing the identity of its users. The essay focuses mainly on showing the values created by space. The text presents significant and important places for the community and activities implemented in this area and performed by people living here. Theories of the city, spaces, architecture and history of Nowa Huta were described. A sociology study was conducted (qualitative interviews, mental maps and research walks), which the results were presented in this thesis. Using these techniques, important places for the community and places that are part of the history of a district were shown and they shape the individual and local identity of young people.

Zasadniczym celem niniejszej pracy licencjackiej jest ukazanie perspektywy młodych mieszkańców i mieszkanek w relacji z przestrzenią, którą zamieszkują, czyli z jedną z krakowskich dzielnic - Nową Hutą. W pracy głównie skupiono się na ukazaniu wartości, jakie wytwarzane są w danej przestrzeni, wpływające na tożsamość jej użytkowników i użytkowniczek. Przedstawiono miejsca znaczące dla społeczności oraz działania realizowane w tym obszarze, także wśród osób zamieszkujących te tereny. Opisano teorie miasta, miejsc, przestrzeni, architektury i historię Nowej Huty. Zostały również przeprowadzone własne badania socjologiczne (wywiady jakościowe, mapy mentalne oraz spacery badawcze), których wyniki zostały przedstawione w pracy. Przy wykorzystaniu tych technik, zobrazowano miejsca, które są istotne dla społeczności i stanowią integralną część historii dzielnicy oraz wpływają na wytwarzanie się tożsamości indywidualnej i lokalnej młodych osób.
