Japanese ideophones in the manga Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure by Hirohiko Araki

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest ideofonom japońskim. Autorka dokonuje definicji pojęcia oraz jego charakterystyki morfologicznej, składniowej i pragmatycznej, a także przybliża podstawowe informacje na temat ikoniczności ideofonów oraz fonosemantyki symbolizmów dźwiękowych. Praca obejmuje analizę przykładów z mangi “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” Hirohiko Arakiego, z wykorzystaniem założeń teorii systemu symboliki dźwiękowej.

The present thesis is on the topic of Japanese ideophones. The author defines the concept and describes its morphological, syntactic and pragmatic characteristics, as well as provides some background information on the iconicity of ideophones and the phonosemantics of sound symbolisms. The thesis includes an analysis of examples from Hirohiko Araki's "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure" manga, using the principles of the sound symbolism system theory.
